Welcome to my blog

Welcome to The Literary Pig's blog - a safe haven for all those afflicted with
the unbearable urge to write.

What are you reading for Christmas?

As you can see LitPig is all ready for Christmas. Most importantly he has the holiday reading list all sorted:
Lamentation by CJ Sansom - the latest adventure of Tudor lawyer & sleuth Shardlake

Smoked Meat by Rowena MacDonald - a collection of short stories set in Montreal

The Lie by Helen Dunmore - a WW1 novel

After the Storm by Jane Lythell - her second novel a thriller set in the Caribbean

Dying Fall by Elly Griffiths - book 5 in the Ruth Galloway (forensic archaeologist) series

The Indoor Writer is looking forward to settling down with these. She was planning a complete Christmas shutdown (from writing), but is so close to finishing first draft of the novel that she may keep going ... with bursts of reading, eating & drinking (not to mention cooking) thrown in for good measure.

So, what are you reading this Christmas?

Merry Christmas &
a Happy New Year!

  1. Have a lovely Christmas, Tracy, and enjoy those great books! I'm hoping to read a bit extra too, although my edits for the new book are coming in over the holidays!

  3. Happy reading. I'm staying in Bath for Christmas so should really be reading Jane Austen. I've got 20 more pages to go on Our Mutual Friend. This is not Dickens greatest work but he drew me in all the same and I love some of the characters. Then onto J. G. Farrell's Troubles on the strong recommendation of a friend.

    1. Just got back from Bath so a bit jealous, Jane. What a lovely place to spend Xmas. I often re-read Pride & Prejudice, but this year we're watching the DVD again. Dickens is a great read for Xmas too. Best wishes :)

  4. Ooh, I love talking books! So, thanks for asking, Tracy... I am going to be reading 'The Paying Guests' by Sarah Waters (received for my birthday in October but not had chance to read it yet); 'The King's Curse' by Philippa Gregory (ditto) and our Book Club's latest choice, 'The Son' by Jo Nesbo. I also have 'The Goldfinch' lined up but I don't think I'll manage that one too! (not unless we get snowed in or something!). Happy Christmas Everyone!

  5. My Christmas present to myself is Henry Mitchell's second novel 'Between Times' (Alfie Dog Fiction). I loved his first book, 'The Summer Boy' so I'm really looking forward to losing myself in this one.

    1. Sounds like you're sorted for Christmas, Linda. And yes, I did write 'Feeding Love' - really glad you liked it. I enjoy pushing the boundaries a little!! Do you have the flash collection? I haven't seen a copy.

    2. I went to the launch of Fifty Flashes of Fiction and got the paperback, but I understand that the ebook edition is now available as well. There's a link to the publisher on my blog.
